Austin and Pflugerville Workshops

Barrio Writers Austin continues to partner with the Center for Latino Studies at the University of Texas in Austin to host a free 1-week virtual summer writing program for youth 13-21 years old. Barrio Writers Pflugerville partners with the Pflugerville Public Library to host a free 1-week virtual summer writing program for youth 13-18 years old. These college-level creative writing programs founded by Sarah Rafael Garcia are led by Program Co-Directors Leticia Urieta and Marilyse Figueroa along with UT students and other local community educators/artists which will provide youth with an opportunity to learn different forms of writing (poetry, spoken word, hip-hop, short stories, essay), (virtual) author's visits and field trips.
